Stop to Catch the Sunset
Stop to Catch the Sunset (Spring Bay, ON)
Oil on canvas
9” x 12”
I took the photo I painted this from in August 2015. I was on my way home to my parent's house from working at Perivale Gallery. I was no doubt feeling inspired, and likely on my way to my own studio to paint. I know I took this photo because of the single prominent floating cloud. But it is not a photo I would normally choose to paint because it isn't very dramatic.
I chose it for it's softness. The photo was a quiet moment of capture, this painting is a peaceful expression of the quiet moments I feel now. I can still relate to that evening inspiration, and observing the simple, subtle moments in life.
